Charles Henderson III was born in Phoenix, Arizona on October 1, 2001. He is a triplet with his two sisters, Candace and Celine. When he was seven years old, Charles moved to Sacramento, California where he discovered his love for music. In 7th grade, he began playing the tuba while attending Buljan Middle School. Charles achieved a soloist rating of Superior in both 7th and 8th grade at the California Music Education Association festival, following his experience as a performer in the 2014 Causeway Youth Music Festival. From then, he continued to play the tuba throughout highschool. In his sophomore year at Roseville High, he was contracted with the Sacramento Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps and marched with them for the 2017, ‘18, and ‘19 seasons. During these years, they became 10th in the world, making World Class finals for the first time in their history. Now, he is attending the California State University, Sacramento, School of Music where he is working towards his degrees in Music Education and Tuba Performance under renowned musician, Jullian Dixon. Throughout highschool and college, he spun with the Antelope High School Winter Guard, and the Sacramento State University Winter Guard where they accomplished 2nd place in WGI. He loves to express his individuality through the forms of music and dance performance. Charles is the current Band Director at Sunrise Elementary in addition to teaching at various high schools--ultimately spreading his passion for the arts. He is excited to learn more ways of how he can share the power of music to the world.
