Kari Anne Estrada -- Trombone / Low Brass

Kari Anne Estrada is a trombonist and educator native to Sacramento. Her passion for music began at age eight, when she began playing flute in the school band. She started playing trombone a few years later in various types of groups including jazz combos, big bands, Dixieland jazz, marching band, symphony orchestras, wind ensembles, chamber groups and pit orchestras for musicals. In 2004, Kari joined the staff at Cazadero Music Camp where she has since worked many jobs including her current position as Music Instructor for trombone and low brass students (ages 9 to 18). She spends her summers in Cazadero's beautiful coastal redwoods teaching and coaching talented young musicians from across the Bay Area and beyond. Kari is a recent graduate of Sacramento State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education with Summa Cum Laude honors. During her time at Sac State, she performed constantly in several large and chamber groups and presented two solo trombone recitals. In 2015, Kari was inducted into the National Music Honor Society Pi Kappa Lambda in recognition of outstanding scholarship and musicianship. She also served as treasurer and president of the Alpha Delta chapter of Professional Music Fraternity Mu Phi Epsilon. Kari is currently enrolled in the Sacramento State Teaching Credential program, where she will earn her certification to teach K-12 public school music. While in school, Kari also established and developed a private studio in the Sacramento area and continued an active freelance career. In addition, she worked for the Sacramento Children's Chorus teaching after-school beginning choir at Cordova Meadows Elementary School as well as the Sacramento Mandarins teaching beginning band at John Ehrhardt Elementary School.
