Note: This instrument is USED, and has been serviced by our repair technicians to be in the best possible playing condition.
Description:
The Conn 16E Mellophonium is a unique piece from Conn-Selmer. The Conn 16E was manufactured between 1957 and 1979, and is most famously played the mellophone section of the Stan Kenton Orchestra. There is a lot of mystique and mythology behind the invention of this horn, with crazy stories of how Stan Kenton and composer Johnny Richard created a DIY prototype of this horn themselves using a hacksaw.
This particular horn is in absolute pristine condition, especially compared to other 16E's on the open market. This has been serviced by our lead brass technician, and is in gig ready condition right off the wall. This horn also comes with the original 1C mouthpiece, case, and Eb slide.
