ISS2869 1952 King Super 20 Tenor Sax
Note: This instrument is USED, and has been serviced by our repair technicians to be in the best possible playing condition.
This King Super 20 Series II Tenor Saxophone is truly a special horn. This saxophone was produced in 1952, around what is referred to as the “Cleveland Era” of King instruments (notated by the “Cleveland” engraving on the bell). King Super 20 saxophones that were produced during this era are the most sought after for their rarity, but also their iconic sound and superior build quality. These saxophones were played most famously by hard bop saxophonist Julian “Cannonball” Adderley but were also played by big names such as Charlie Parker, James Moody, Sonny Rollins and many more.
This saxophone has undergone a complete mechanical restoration, including a full professional cleaning, full recork, full repad, and key structure fitting. This horn also has the “full pearls” on the side keys, palm keys, and G# key. The lacquer is all original and is in great shape with minor wear.
