The Holton Harvey Phillips CC Tubas were produced by Holton from 1998 to 2009 and was designed for world renowned tuba player Harvey G. Phillips. Harvey Phillips had a rich career, first starting off as a freelance tuba artist for many big names in the 1950s (New York City Opera, New York City Ballet, Band of America, Goldman Band). He then played tuba for the New York Brass Quintet from 1953-1967. Following his successful performance career, he would also serve as a tuba professor at Indiana University from 1971 to 1994.
The Holton TU330 is quite rare, and it is estimated that no more than 300 of these tubas were ever made. Players that do play these tubas love them for their extreme versatility, as it is fundamentally designed to be played in virtually any context or setting a tuba player would need.
